The Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020 is a very special bottle that carries a story like no other. The significance of this release; the unique set of circumstances that gave rise to the bottling and the unprecedented times that it represents, will be recognised by whisky lovers around the globe.

A single refill sherry cask hand-selected by Brian Kinsman. All 450 of the bottles drawn from cask #25427 have been signed by Brian himself, and in light of the cancellation of the 2020 Spirit of Speyside festival, were exclusively auctioned by Whisky Auctioneer to raise funds for local Speyside causes most affected by COVID-19. This is a rare opportunity to taste a single sherry cask Glenfiddich at cask strength. The liquid itself is a true tribute to the craftsmen and women of Glenfiddich who brought this whisky to life under the most difficult of circumstances.

From Struan Grant Ralph, Glenfiddich Global Brand Ambassador,

"The local community has been at the heart of Glenfiddich since 1887 when William Grant opened our distillery in Dufftown. We hope the release of the Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020 is a fitting tribute to William Grant and his legacy in the Speyside community."

100% of the revenue produced from the auction went directly to helping and supporting local Speyside causes, particularly those most affected by the COVID-19 crisis; Moray Food Plus, Keirans Legacy and NHS Grampian. Glenfiddich sees this as a fitting tribute to founder William Grant, himself a pillar of the local community over 130 years ago, who always looked out for his craftsmen and community, often through tough times. Since 1887, Glenfiddich has always strived to create the ‘best dram in the valley.’ Today, in 2020, that vision is amended to the ‘dram doing the best for the valley.’

Glenfiddich was an early advocate of the single malt Scotch category, and their craft and skill is rewarded today by being the most awarded single malt Scotch whisky brand in the world. The distillery was built by William Grant in 1886, distilling its first spirit on Christmas day the following year. Today it is still part of the family-owned, William Grant & Sons. They became the first distillery in Scotland to actively market their single malt brand in 1963, effectively creating the single malt category, and were the first to open their distillery to visitors. Glenfiddich was an important trailblazer in the whisky industry, whose contribution cannot be forgotten. The scale of their operation today is a testament to this.
